Question by halfwaygone09: go back on my parents cell plan or keep my prepaid?
ok so we have no hosue phone…so on a prepaid altel i pay a dollar a day for unlimited text.. altel to altel…and after 9 nites and weekends. with other calls it amounts to about 35-40 a month now. I have the cheap 25 dollar phone with no camera just basic and thats ok with me i never did pic messages when i had a camera phone anyway jsut took em and kept em on there for show not send

My parents plan: *family plan” ( free after 7pm nites and weekends….can get unlimited texting and web is a bonus with that….still have altel to altel and a bonus few numbers cause of the ten number thing.
since my mother is getting herself a new phone she will GIVE me her old one…meaning i dont have to pay for it or the fee to the activation fee and its a nice scoop keyboard phone–in my fav color orange none the less! — Bill— $ 20 for text $ 15 for my line plus tax (my lil sister pays bout 5.25 for tax with her’s and she has the exact same planning) so round 40-45 a month

with it being free after 7 wont really use any of the plan minutes and as long as i lock my phone and dont over use minutes or anything my parents dont care what i do with it…. btw have a job to pay my prepaid and will continue paying my part on my parnets line…

This is a great idea cause Im going to the military after graduate high school in may..they will freeze my phone till i get outa boot camp. i could switch my line over to my name ..plan to also take my grandmothers on my line and pay for hers cause i want to get her web acess for a laptop.

any suggestions …think its worth it?

Someone please break down the new iPhone 3G for me!?

Question by Abbington: Someone please break down the new iPhone 3G for me!?
Alright this is the deal, I want an iPhone (badly). I wasn’t willing to spend the money last time around it came out; however, the new price is mighty tempting ($ 199).

One of the articles on Yahoo says:
“Old iPhone: $ 399 (for 8GB of storage), plus $ 60 per month for 450 voice minutes and unlimited data. Two-year total (since you’ll be signing a two-year deal for either handset): $ 1,839.

New iPhone: $ 199 (for 8GB of storage), plus $ 70 per month for a basic voice plan (presumably the same 450 minutes) and unlimited data. Two-year total: $ 1,879.”

So, I guess what I’m wondering is….Is the “$ 70 per month for a basic voice plan” the cheapest plan you can select using the iPhone through AT&T? My issue is… I want the phone a) to use as a cell phone, b) text every now and then, and c) music purposes. In other words, I do NOT need to use the internet, GPS, or whatever else it comes with. So, no matter what, will my monthly bill be $ 70?

Question by Sarah: How to get the most out of a T-Mobile plan without breaking my budget?
So i really want to buy the T-Mobile Sidekick Lx 2001. http://www.t-mobile.com/shop/phones/Cell-Phone-Detail.aspx?cell-phone=Sidekick-LX-Carbon ….
And i found this website, http://cellphones.about.com/od/textmessaging/a/cheaptextmessaging.htm that says “Which cell phone carrier offers the cheapest text messaging plan?”..and i went down to T-mobile, and it says “Best deal: Unlimited text messages for $ 15 a month”, but back on the T-mobile website, i cant find that plan anywhere…can you please help me out?
Or what do you think the best plan would be if i wanted to buy the T-Mobile Sidekick LX 2009? i want lots of texting =P because i’m a teenager..and something where i don’t have to pay more than around $ 30 a month =/
Please be descriptive in your answers IF YOU CAN, and thank you very much! =]

you are never going to find a plan with a lot of texting for less than 30. I have t-moblie and i pay about 50 for Unlimited talk and text.and if you go to a dealer they will give you a good deal for the sidekick. IF you don’t want to pay much then go to metro. Thats the only two companys i had. But the metro phones aren’t that good. It really your choice.

iPhone and At&t Questions?

Question by Wyatt: iPhone and At&t Questions?
Hi, im 15 and i just got a free iphone 3gs from my uncle. i never had a cell phone before and im excited! but i have no idea about pricing and plans and such so please help! i also hear that you can only get it for at&t…lame i would like to hook it up with at&t, but i have a few questions.

I want a sort of “unlimited plan” do they have it? talk, text and web? if not whats the next best thing?

I know that it requires to have the internet on iphone…but i heard that one plan has talk text web and email?? what the heck? i thouht email was something you do on the internet! whats the deal with that?

And lastly…with the plan that i want, its gonna be a fortune…if there are any hidden fees or suprise bills please tell me how to prevent them. thank you and if anybody has a trick for keeping the price down id love it!!! thanks and bear with me if im asking stupid uestions because i have no idea how cell phones work haha

You cannot get an all in one deal like that on AT&T, but you can get them separaretly. Unlimited talk is a month. I would evaluvate if you actually need that much though because you can save money with the 900 or 450 minute plans. On normal phones unlimited text and data together are a month, but the iPhone is considered a smartphone. The good thing is that you can get around this since you own the iPhone already. When you order your plan, get a free phone with the contract. Take the sim card out of that phone and put it in the iPhone. If you need help getting the sim tray out of the iphone since it’s kind of hidden, search it on google or youtube. Doing this saves you from having to buy the smartphone data plan and it will cost you more money. Just make sure the free phone you get is not a smartphone and make sure you don’t tell the people at the at&t store your doing this. Oh and about hidden fees, pretty much every state has a tax on cell phones. It’s different for every state, but I know in New Jersey it is 15%.

Question by hh: is it possible for prepaid phones to have internet access, unlimited texting, and unlimited calling?
I want to buy the Samsung Magnet – GoPhone® – Prepaid – Refurbished (prepaid because I’m underage and my parents won’t get me a normal cell phone). I checked the plan for “Plan: $ 60 Unlimited Talk and Text Feature Package on the Simple Rate Plan”. Is that possible for a prepaid phone? If so what’s the prepaid part about it and what’s so different about it and a normal phone?
Also I’m guessing it doesn’t need a contract if it’s a prepaid but why doesn’t it have a contract if it has all those features like a regular phone?

Question by Emma: Tmobile cell phone but AT&T service?
I use AT&T, I currently have and iphone with an “iphone plan” which is the $ 30 a month for the internet. I want to buy the HTC HD2 from Tmobile and unlock it and use it with my AT&T. How would that work though? Do I just put my sim card in and my $ 30 internet plan will work with the HD2? And will my unlimited texting plan will carry over with it? Im afraid if i get the HD2 it will not be compatable with my plan. :S
Thanks
I know I cant just put in my sim card, notice I said I wanted to buy one then unlock it. I just want to know once its unlocked and I have my sim card in, will my unlimited “iphone” plan with AT&T work with the HD2?

you have to hack into the tmobile phone..

Q&A: Is the iPhone data plan “unlimited”?

Question by CobMan151: Is the iPhone data plan “unlimited”?
My wife and I will be getting an iPhone with the mandatory data plan. Is there any kind of data limits or is it unlimited? A guy I work with just got one and he told me it’s unlimited. I’ve seen other internet-capable cell phones and there are two data plans, both limited. We will be using our own wireless internet for the iPhone when at home. Anybody who has an iPhone or knows about the plans please advise. Thanx. P.S. I already know about the crazy “international” rates but we never leave the area we live in.

Answer by daobrien01
I have 2 iPhones on the unlimited data plan and yes, it is unlimited. We also have the unlimited text messaging plan as well. The only thing “limited” about the phone is using the actual phone – making and receiving. I wish that could be unlimited too.

Question by RiverisLove: Using Twitter through AT&T cell with “unlimited messaging family plan”…?
I have the “Unlimited Messaging for Families” for $ 30 on my cell phone. If send updates to Twitter through texts, or receive updates through texts, will this charge me any extra, or does it count as unlimited?

To be simpler, if I send/receive texts to Twitter through my phone, will I be charged anything other than my regular $ 30?

Do any of you have the same plan as me and tweet through texts?

Best answer:

Answer by Andrew
If you have unlimited messaging and twitter does not charge any extra fees for sending and receiving texts, then no you will not be charged anything other than the .
But, if twitter does charge extra for that then yes, you will be charged for however many texts to and from twitter.

Question by ColeSloth: Shouldn’t crooked cell phone carriers remove the word “unlimited” in their data plans?
“Unlimited” is a very specific word, and Sprint, AT$ T, and Verizon all have what they call “Unlimited Data Plans” capped at a measly 5GB of data. you can go through that very quickly with today’s newer smart phones watching video’s.

Them capping a limit on their bandwidth is one thing, but still referring to it as unlimited in order to deceive people is an outright lie.
This is what I mean. Neither of you have any idea as to what you signed up for. Here’s a link I grabbed real quick.

I have unlimited data on my Verizon Premium plan. I have never been capped. I never pay one cent more than my regular bill.
