Would a Virgin Mobile Plan work on a Virgin Mobile Cellphone that was previously prepaid?

Say I buy a used Virgin Mobile Phone and I want to put a plan on it, but the phone was previously used for prepaid on the network. Would it work, or is there a line between prepaid phones and plan phones?

Thanks for your help!

yes it would, all virign mobiles are locked to the virgin network but moving to prepaid would be fine as long as you are staying with virgin mobile for you contract. if not and your moving to another network such as o2 or tmobile then you will need to get the phone unlocked down the market (where they sell fruit and veg)

I don’t know which Virgin Mobile you use as there are seven countries that have them. I can only speak for the USA one. As long as the phone has a clear esn/electronic serial number an is not on the restricted list: not reported lost, stolen or have an outstanding balance/money owed on it, you should be able to activate it. If the previous owner still has Virgin Mobile and you activate and top up with at least $20 within 45 days of its previous deactivation, you will both get sixty free minutes of airtime.

Don’t know if you fall in this category, but it was worth a shot.
If you are a VM noob: 3 rules.
1)Pay with only topups. VM has been known to chronically overcharge credit/debit cards and Paypal.
2)Make sure you have enough money for taxes /extra charges or you won’t get what you expect. If you buy their 19.99 Unlimited Texters delight for example and pay only a $20 topup, that does not cover taxes but since you still have 20 bucks, the will charge you as you use it 15 cents a text, 20 minutes a call till it is gone. That comes out to 133 texts or 100 minutes or airtime. A ripoff. Make sure you have enough money. I always suggest a $20 bill the first time get paid with $30 and then let the extra 10 cover taxes. And if there is enough leftover from the extra 10 next period, put in only 20 till you need 30 again in the future.

    3) Check your account to make sure you know how much money you have in your balance and what plan you are on , especially when you first topup, near the deadline for retop up or after you have made any changes to your account.

Sprint is taking over VM . They bought them out a week or so ago. I am hoping that under new management, VM will have better prices/plans, more/better phones and better customer service in the near future.

    Thanks and good luck.
