Or can I use one of the cheaper phones?

Buy a wifi card. If you have a Palm or a pocket PC, cards can be gotten for cheap.

How much kb is an average webpage on a mobile phone?
I’m looking at ordering a phone plan and I don’t want to spend $20 extra monthly for unlimited web browsing. However, I think I may use the web on very rare occasions, but I won’t if it will cost an arm and a leg with each page I browse. The cost is $0.01 per kb downloaded.
